Ernő Berkó, Hungary

Ernő has been using a G-10 German Mount with a 100/600 Triplet Apo (an early Russian design) for an extensive CCD project of Galaxies and more since about 4 years. His efforts bought him unexpected success when he co-discovered SN1999by in NGC2841.

Here you can see Ernő posing for a magazine photographer in 1999. In the background stands his 35 cm Gemini Dob which was later equatorialized on a G-40.

On the right is the 35 cm Gemini Newton which Ernő uses for extensive visual and CCD work. (note the Gemini Crayford focusser!) He captured a large number of small and faint Planetaries. Recently he begun to experiment with CCD double star observations. About two years after the first shots he has a name code in the WDS (Washington Double Star Catalogue): BKE. Congratulations!
